oh those french

I didn't think much of it last month when I picked up my copy of French Vogue and opened up the 2009 calendar. I flipped through the pin-up girl pages shot by Terry Richardson and then said to myself "guess I won't be using this" and then placed it on a shelf.

That being said, last night I was browsing the web and found a bunch of comments about the calendar. Everyone, male and female praised the calendar. I wasn't so impressed. Perhaps that's because I could put on some bunny ears, black panties, lick a bowl, and take a photo. But what about that makes it so "french"?

Anyways, you can check out all the images at fashionologie. Take a look at it and let me know your opinion. How would you rate the calendar? Hot? Not so hot? Or could you careless?

I personally think that is one ugly woman.

i could care less because they're obviously using nudity for attention, not fashion.

I love how you've come right out and said it. Sometimes blogs and fashion in general is a bit like Emporer's New Clothes. It's naked. But everyone's ignoring it. I agree with you. I was wholly unimpressed when it came out. The styling and direction was a bit cliched for my tastes. And the nudity felt quite gratuitous. Hey, thanks for the comment on my blog. I really love yours! And I've linked to you. Yay! I'll stop by a lot more often now. Happy New Year!

a) if you're gonna do pinups you need to use girls with CURVES. not rexy models.

b) i've seen them done much better. i've you're gonna do pinups go retro and over the top! this looks like they went through a halloween rummage sale. lame!

Ahaha, seems somewhat inspired by the "slutty cat" Halloween costume that 13 year olds seem to favour :(

I agree with Kelly's comment. And also, even if I did like this, my parents would probably sit down and have a word with me if I had this in my room ahahah

I didn't find it very sexy. The old-fashioned pin-up posters had an innocence about them that actually made them sexier. This looked more like typical sexless models making believe they were pin-up models.

I saw them in the magazine too. They really aren't that savory. Meh.

If you are going to do pinup, make it pinup style. Don't fashion-ize it over the top. I don't know. It's a little heroine chic for me.
