As promised . . . runway review fall 2008

Seeing that I live in Seattle, it’s not hard to believe that Fall/Winter is my favorite season. For 8 months out of the year it’s cold, wet, and sometimes snowy. The weather here has its own dress code. The Pacific Northwest winters require layers upon layers, jackets and coats, gloves and even earmuffs from time to time.

When I first moved to Seattle back in 2005, I didn’t own a wool coat or mittens. I spent the entire winter without and umbrella. Perhaps my stubborn California attitude got in the way. But all things take time, and I learned. I’ve grown to embraced colder weather and the attire that it requires. And perhaps that is why I appreciate well-made clothes... read the rest of my fall fashion review here.

Hey! I don't know if you remember me, but I won your cute laundry sign for my laundry room. I've finally posted some photos and wondered if you wanted to stop by to see them.

Here's the link:

I'd also love to knit you at hat as an appreciation for your wonderful sign. I'm pretty certain I can knit any of the patterns here:

if you'd like to choose one. Just let me know what color you'd like too, and I'll let you know if it's a pattern I can tackle. I'm not certain I'd be able to find the exact yarn, but I'll try to use a similar one. Thanks!

RE: the knit hat

I'll try the first one (http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter07/PATTquant.html), as I haven't done that technique before and have wanted to learn how to do it. Do you like those kinds of colors or something more neutral? It looks like that yarn is just one ball but has variegated colors in it.

I may just make one for myself too! I'll probably get to the yarn/craft store this weekend and I'll definitely have it done by the fall. Count on early October, but I imagine I'll finish it sooner. Sometimes new patterns take me a little time to do.

Your review is awesome. Seriously. Plus, I just discovered that there is something made by Tommy Hilfiger that I actually like and you totally put Moschino back in my mind.

Oh my lord, what an amazingly good read. Fabulous and spot on. What I like best is the call to be original. The affirmation that whilst it's fun to watch what designers put out in the runways, it's really ok, more chic in fact, to remain true to your own style. Thank you for doing this :)
