somethings were made for each other

I'm a fan of Jil Saunders. More so, I am a huge fan of Katie Holmes in Jil Sander. For more awesome fashion inspiration, check out Jil Sander's entire Spring 2009 collection. You'll have a burning desire to go shopping soon after.

my fashion love affair

Yes, I admit, I am in love with Emmanuelle Alt. Not to burst any bubbles but she's in her 40's, yea, I said 40's. For the sake of argument, she is barely in her 40's but still... I owe her much thanks for giving me hope that aging isn't all that bad.

What makes her style so fantastic:

1. Her "I just threw this on and ran out the house" look.
2. Her practically all black wardrobe
3. Her skin which appears to never have makeup
4. Her legs are long, way long
5. Her bad-ass attitude which oozes out of her as she walks

Can I just note, that almost everything on the list above has nothing to do with the clothes she owns, and perhaps that is the point. What makes Emmanuelle Alt so awesome is her confidence.

can someone loan me $2.6 million

No I don't need my own personal bailout. Better yet, I need to help stimulate the housing market in Paris. You see Christian Lacroix just put his 2,150-square-foot apartment up for sale. Located in the fabulous Le Marais district, it only cost $2.6 million. Only.

In the meantime, spend your Monday drooling over these photos and creating a magical Parisian fantasy. One can dream can't I?

oh what a week

It's been a busy week, but oh so fantastic.

The best part is how we made history. We got a new president. And not just a great president, but a fantastic first family. I have been inspired over the last week by all the blogs expressing there excitement and anticipation over the new president. It's fantastic to feel hope and have faith. And better yet, it's great to know that there are millions of others in the world that feel the same way I do, we all do.

So stay inspired with these fantastic Inauguration blog post:

Check out the nation's and Fashion's First Lady.

Check out Aretha's wild hat at Coco + Kelley's Inaugural Fashion Frenzy Wrap Up.

The Bedlam of Beefy shows some love for the first family, I Know, I Know, he isn't the only one.

If you haven't had enough yet, TIME and The Huffington Post have some fantastic photos to see.

Until Monday...

flower power

I'm not getting married (been there, done that) but Joanna over at Cup of Joe is. And perhaps she should consider a wedding dress like this. These dresses are extravagant and quite marvelous aren't they?

excuse my absence

Excuse my absence today, but I've been waiting 2 years to see Obama become President, 8 years to get rid of Bush and more so, a lifetime to see an African American become president. If you own a TV turn it on and partake in some history.

Soft Focus

I am in love with this photo shoot in Vogue Spain.

After seeing this, I now desperately want a farm house with a lake, 85 degree weather, and a lazy Saturday.
Don't you agree?

Victoria in Emporio Armani

With the economy tanking, fashion designers are bring in the big dogs when it comes to advertising. Claudia Schiffer for Yves Saint Laurent, Kate Moss and Gisele Bundchen for Versace, Stephanie Seymour for Valentino, Katie Holmes for Mui Miu, and now Victoria Beckham for Emporio Armani.

Personally, I like the Versace ads the best. Perhaps it's because the dress Katie is wearing makes me drool.

it's a small world afterall

So I get these ELLE newsletters and occasional I will read them. The most recent e-newsletter had a link to an article on the last seasons winner of Project Runway, Leanne Marshall.

Long story short, she talked about getting her start in fashion. She said she used to tell her stuff in Sacramento, CA at an event called Sellout Buyout. Small world, I grew up and went to college in Sacramento, and lived less then four blocks away from where they held Sellout Buyout.

Truth be told, the event in kind of lame. Most of the stuff sold there was crap: t-shirts that some one cut up in their basement and glued back together, nasty used clothes, and tons of poorly knitted scarves. That being said, it was cool to see that someone could come out of such a setting and create such beautiful clothes.

It just goes to show, you never know.

Check It Out

I have long thought this blog to be my little space, so to speak. It where I post any and everything I find inspirational, motivational, and of course all the clothes I droll over.

That being said, one of my new years resolutions was to start getting involved in Seattle and try new things. This is why I am starting a new Seattle Post-Intelligencer reader blog, Fashion Factory. The Seattle PI blog has a more direct focus on fashion in Seattle. I will post news happenings, Seattle store profiles, helpful fashion tips, and so forth.

I am still doing this blog of course. But perhaps you might just want to start reading both of my blogs. And if that is the case, you can check out the Fashion Factory.

I try to update La Boudoir and the Fashion Factory every day. So check back often for new stuff.

Thanks everyone for being such loyal readers and leaving tons of awesome comments.

The Globes

I didn't watch the Golden Globes this year. I just moved and I don't have tv until next week. I did however keep up on what the ladies were wearing and I have to say, I found a lot of the choices to be tacky. As in what the hell was Jennifer Lopez wearing? She looks like a stripper at a night club.

That being said, oddly I found these two dresses to be my favorites, Cameron in Chanel and Maggie in Lanvin. I am not a pink fan, as in NOT AT ALL. But Cameron made it work, and I kind of like the dress. When it comes to Maggie, I am a huge fan. She is possibly the cutest girl in the world and I am watching Stranger than Fiction as I type this. And of course, Lanvin is my favorite fashion house period.

Just to note, runner up for super cute dress is Eva Mendez.

As Promised - Spring 2009 Runway Review

It's taken hours, lots of hours. I have cut, cropped, and color adjusted. Been glued to the youtube, style.com, and practically married to Indesign. But it is finally complete and now I give you my spring 2009 Runway Review.

I know it is only January, but my intent has been to get this project done before numerous national magazines came out with their own trend reports. Often times I find what these magazines put out is a little bit of everything, but not a lot of substance.

My goal with these runway reviews (aside from keeping myself entertained) is to provide readers a practical look at what is "hot" for the upcoming season. I don't want to tell you to go buy a zebra printed dress just because five designers sent them down the runway. Odd are, 1 in 10,000 of us can pull of a zebra dress. Instead I try to focus on the rational, highly possible trends that you can shop around for in the coming months and be proud to own for years to come.

On a personal note, I enjoyed watching the runways this spring. This is probably the case because a lot of spring 2009 could have been fall 2008. The colors were darker, and a lot the clothes were classic, staple pieces that every woman should own.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the pages ahead in my spring 2009 Runway Review.

Until Monday...

regrets

I came across Candace Meyer's website tonight while having a drink and hanging out with my dog. I was blown away at all the fantastic photos. Her website is packed with stellar images. Not only do these photos make me swoon. I am now regretting the fact that I quit dancing in college.

Check out more of Candace Meyer's jaw-dropping photography. Seriously, all of photos are beautiful.

start the year off right with January's Giveaway

This month's Giveaway is pretty awesome. In fact, I kind of want to keep it for myself. I am giving away One Year of White Pages by NAVA Designs. What is that you ask? Well it's a diary. Better yet, it's an awesome diary. There are twelve individual books, one for each month all of which tie together. Retails at $40.00 (and it's only a diary, so you know it has to look super cool).

How do you win?
Leave a comment telling me your #1 New Years resolution by January 16. I have also created an image as you can see on the right for The Giveaway. If you are blogger savvy and willing, it would be awesome if you could post the image with a link on your blog sidebar as well. That way more people can join in. Just copy the image from the right side.

Best of luck!

p.s. I have been working hard on my Spring Runway Review and I should have it up by Friday.
