Fight the Good Fight

Let's talk. Seriously. About Poverty.
It stretches far and wide and around the world.

First lets look at some numbers -
In America:
37.3 Million Americans live in Poverty
27.8% are over the age of 65 or under the age of 18. Meaning that 1/2 of those living in poverty are either elderly or the nations youth. Both of which are rather defenseless.

Worldwide:
25,000 people die DAILY due to hunger

The goal of Blog Action Day is to get people taking and hopefully spark some action.

Remember that you can serve right in your community in the smallest ways. Just two weeks ago I did a Obama voter registration at a community dinner about 5 block up from my home. I had no idea that the service was even held and that close to 200 people, most homeless and all hungry, show up everyone Wednesday night for free food. Wednesday are the worst night for me to volunteer but I decided that I could still serve a purpose. I decided that every week I will make something and drop it by the building on my way home from work. It's a small action but one that reaches far.

It's the little things that count. And everyone can help.

It's wonderful what you're doing. I always think that the best causes to get involved with are the ones that move you the most. Maryam from Marrakech has been posting a lot about Rwanda on her blog, and they are so moving and so sad. You're right in that we can all do something.
