"Olivier Theyskens's recent departure from Nina Ricci suggests to me that the vital role of artistic talent has been obscured in the current economic climate. My staff and I were shocked to learn that Theyskens's contract would not be renewed; and I am very concerned that the business of fashion is undervaluing the most important asset our industry requires: creative visionaries. There's a reason we continue to see Theyskens's influence everywhere, from catwalks to the mall. He'll be back, but fashion must hold its nerve. This is the mission that we at Vogue happily shoulder."
Who knows where Theysken will work next. For now, his first contribution to 2010 is a new collection of beautiful backstage photos from his fashion shows -- Olivier Theyskens: The Other Side of the Picture. You can take a sneak peek and purchase a copy online.

I was so sad whenI heard he was leaving Ricci. He's one of the most tallented designers out there, I hope he finds a new job soon!
I've always loved that image of him and that absolute fantasy gown he created for Lauren Santo Domingo at her Columbian wedding. No doubt, he'll continue to shine wherever he goes next.
I can’t wait to read the magazines. It looks fabulous.
The picture itself said it all, it’s glamorous. I love it.
The dress is so pretty. I'm very thankful to the author for posting such an amazing post.
