patience pays off

For 5 years I have struggled to come up with a headboard for my bed. Something rustic and french, old and unique - this is what I want to place my pillows up against. I've looked at platform bedframes, brass frames, athropologie headboards, and so on. Idea after idea, and countless hours of researching creative and unique headboards, I have spent years looking and still, my bed sits on the black metal frame I received when I purchased my mattress. Uck, I say, Uck!

Ah ha! But wait. At last, I have found what I have been looking for. I am in love, as in seriously loving the old door used as a headboard. The bedroom in this photo is far too colorful for my taste, but the old wooden door caught my eye. I have seen doors like this in antique stores and loved them; however, I never knew what to do with them. But now, now I have an idea and it's time to go treasure hunting.

In case you're interested, you can learn how to make your own pallet bedframe like the one in the photo here.

That's a great solution. Headboards can be a problem. We don't have one, I simply put up a piece of colorful fabric from India, et voila, a headboard.

What a creative idea! I always have my eyes peeled for affordable headboards. We have sloped ceilings so it's definitely a challenge. I am going to try to make one this summer after I find fabric that I like. This room image is beautiful. Good luck!
