I bought a new dress yesterday. It’s a cute little black dress, kind of Jane Birkin-esque. I am not that into jewelry so I didn’t think twice about the accessories. I figured the dress was simple and cute, and that’s all that matters.
Oh how wrong I was….at least according to my grandmother.
I hung the dress in the doorway when I returned from shopping, and about an hour later my grandmother came down the hall inquiring what the dress was for. Work, of course. “But what are you going to wear with it?” she asked. Umm, some shoes, my body?
She walked out of the room, only to return with her arms outstretched, “Here,” she said, “Wear this!” In her hand was a beautiful gold necklace and bracelet.
The point of this story…. Grandmothers know best! I woke up this morning, threw the dress over my head, snapped the gold necklace around my neck, and walked out the door. And in the course of just three hours this morning, the necklace and the dress have landed a great handful of complements.
So thanks Grammer, for making me look good.
