Recently there has been a rush of beautiful babes who have been retouched to look even better than what nature already gave them. Like this recent photo of Madonna and this over air brushed Bazaar cover of Halle Berry. But this new French ELLE blew my mind. Eva Herzigova, Inès de la Fressange, and actresses Monica Bellucci, Sophie Marceau, Anne Parillaud, Karin Viard, Charlotte Rampling, and Chiara Mastroianni all appear without any makeup or retouching. Yes, that's right, what you are looking at is all-natural.

Holy crap. These people aren't even aiming for perfection. It's like they already are.
Only in France. Go girls!! After being a makeup artist for many years in LA, I have seen many a face transfixed with la maquillage, before even meeting the touch up photo masters. So many woman are faced daily with images of Goddesses to live up to that do not exist. the French have a true sense of what being a woman encompasses. True inner beauty, that lives within us all. A little preachy, but I am so happy to see something real.
This absolutely brilliant! If only they could all do it... it would make many girls and women feel a lot better about themselves.

It bothers me that they only let the untouched photos go on European covers, in America it never happens and it's really annoying, America's obession with fakeness and perfection is overwhelmingly tired. Sophie is damn beautiful, nothing fake needed! Hurrah!
This is a great post, Stacy. I am really tired of photo shopped models in the catalogs, too. Did you know that Lauren Hutton has always had it in her contract to never be "re-touched"? I love her courage!
How amazing!!!
This is just great - will have to have that edition NOW !!
Sophie Marceau - the girl on the cover - is such a beautiful girl...I loved all her La Boum movies !!
She still looks fabulous and couldn't those Hollywood ladies learn a thing or two from French women ?
Finally a face with a real expression !!
absolutely lovely to see women looking so real and un-plastic. There is so much that can be done with proper light alone in photography to evoke natural beauty, it's also good to see this craft practiced without the aid of excessive photoshop...
this is JUST STUNNING. thank you for sharing!
Thanks for posting this. I am starting to think that the airbrushed look is slowly leaving as women start to chip away some of their looks maintenance budgets....
These photos are absolutely beautiful. I am so glad they let them be natural- so much more perfect.
I love that they made that issue.
Sophie Marceau, of course, has the skin...she couldn't look bad if she tried.
She shouldn't look good because her hair is all too reminiscent of a little boy's....but the woman looks fab, all the same.
