March JCrew and April's ELLE Decor

Over the last three weeks there has been lots of talk of the March JCrew Catalog. The images were shot at the Kaufmann house in Palm Springs, built back in 1946 by Richard Neutra. The NY Times covered the home back in October 07 when word came that the home would go up for sale this coming May (article here). The estimated selling price is between $15- $25 million. But before it goes up for sell, J Crew took the opportunity to shoot their March 2008 catalog at the home. (Kaufmann home below)

I was flipping through ELLE Decor April 2008 yesterday and they did a feature on the Andreina and Ricardo Cottin's home in Caracas, Venezuela. The 1960's inspired home reminded me of the Kaufmann home. The large glass walls, terraces, sleek flat roofs, well manicure back yard and swimming pool, and open, spacious floor plans were similar to that of the Kaufmann home. (Cottin's home below)

Along with the layout of the homes, the furniture seen in both houses were similar. The simple geometry of polished metal and light wood gave both homes a simple, sophisticated feel. I recommend checking both the catalog and the magazine out. There are more amazing photos to look at and many more images to inspire. You can get the JCrew catalog in the store. And you can pick up ELLE Decor just about anywhere.

It's so funny- I just noticed the Kauffman house in the spring ads for Seven jeans too! It is an amazing house- it makes me want to move to Palm Springs!

Love your blog, by the way!
